What is identity verification?

It’s a method to confirm that an account truly belongs to the user. This helps protect funds and prevent fraud. Identity verification is a standard global practice that minimizes risks for users.

02

Why is it necessary?

In Uzbekistan, new regulations have been adopted, making identity verification mandatory for all users of banks and payment services. This is part of a larger initiative aimed at protecting clients and combating financial crimes. It is included in the roadmap following the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan's decree "On measures to enhance the protection of consumer rights in digital products (services) and combat offenses committed through digital technologies." The implementation of this program is scheduled for 2024-2025.

03

When is identity verification required?

  1. When registering a new account.
  2. After resetting a password to regain access to transfers and payments.
  3. When changing smartphones.

04

How can it be done?

In Payme, it’s straightforward—just open the app, go to "Profile," and click "Complete Identification." You’ll need to upload your passport details and scan your face. This will only take a couple of minutes.

05

Can identity verification be skipped?

If a user has not previously verified their identity and forgets their password, they will need to complete verification after resetting it. If identity verification was done earlier, then after a password reset or logging in from a new device, only authentication—face scanning—will be required.

Those registering for the first time or using a new number will only be able to check their balance without identity verification; transfers and payments will be unavailable. For long-time users of the app, it’s advisable to complete verification in advance, whenever convenient.

06

What documents are needed?

Only a passport is required. You will need to enter its details in the app and complete a face scan.

07

What if something isn't working?

It’s worth trying to:

  • check if the passport details are entered correctly;
  • ensure that the face is clearly visible during the scan;
  • if it still doesn’t work, you can contact support at 1150 or write to the Telegram bot.
