The Competition Committee announced a recalculation of 18 billion sums of unjustifiably accrued debt for waste disposal in the Namangan region.
The regional supervisory authority analyzed data on waste disposal services provided in the first half of 2024. The inspection involved the local state enterprise "Toza Khudud" and the company Namangan Musaffo Iqlim.
During the investigation, it was found that waste disposal system operators charged fees for services that were not actually rendered. More than 1.1 million subscribers in 10 districts of the region were affected by their actions.
A special commission of the committee initiated cases against both enterprises for violations of Articles 19 and 21 of the "Consumer Rights Protection" law. They were sent mandatory directives requiring a recalculation of the excessive debt.
Last week, it was reported that the Supreme Court invalidated two agreements for waste disposal between the Khokimiyat of Navoi region and the private enterprise "Berezhlivost." The case for the annulment of another contract with the company was under consideration in the Appellate Court.
Previously, Spot reported that waste disposal prices increased in Tashkent and Surkhandarya regions.
