The clusters in the Bukhara region have managed to create 3,600 jobs. The President is currently holding a meeting with the heads of the clusters in this area, reports the press service of the head of state.
Currently, there are 11 cotton-textile clusters operating in the region. Last year, they were able to harvest over 358,000 tons of cotton from nearly 99,000 hectares. A total of 36 projects have been launched in the region, amounting to 2.3 trillion sums. Products worth $77 million have been exported.
Why did we switch to a cluster system despite the challenges? Previously, our people grew cotton but did not receive adequate profits. For five years, we supported the clusters, creating conditions to bring them to their current level. Now they must assist the people. Let them prosper, but alongside the improvement of living standards, together with the people, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
What is a cluster and why is it needed
The cluster system was introduced in Uzbekistan in 2017.
A cluster is a group of enterprises that unites all participants (farmers, processing enterprises, exporters) in the value-added chain to achieve a common goal.
Currently, there are 465 clusters operating in various sectors in Uzbekistan. They are allocated 282,004 hectares of land — which is more than 260,000 football fields.
