The Competition Committee has fined Coscom (brand Ucell) for violations of advertising legislation, as reported by the agency's press service.

Representatives of the supervisory authority noted the advertising materials of the mobile operator in the media. The wording used in them was characterized as "exaggerated or misleading."

A special commission has initiated proceedings against Coscom for violating the requirements of the law "On Advertising." A decision was made to impose a financial penalty.

The operator was also instructed to rectify the identified violations and prevent their recurrence in the future. If the company disagrees with the decision, it has the right to appeal to the Committee's appellate council or through the courts, the agency noted.

One of the most high-profile cases related to advertising was the investigation involving Korzinka last summer. In July, the supervisory authority announced the initiation of proceedings against the retailer concerning the advertising slogan "the lowest prices," which was deemed misleading.

In response, Korzinka's press service stated that it pertains to a pricing strategy aimed at establishing low prices for a basket of everyday goods. The retailer emphasized that the prices of certain products "may at times be comparable to those of other market participants," but it refused to acknowledge any violation.

The founder of the company, Zafar Khashimov, clarified in his comments that the retailer voluntarily implemented a policy of selling popular products at prices below market rates. He added that prices for some of these items "may coincide" with other offers.

In August, Korzinka announced its admission of guilt, its voluntary payment of the fine, and amendments to its public offer and communication materials. Starting in September, the company rebranded its pricing strategy to "shopping at even lower prices."

Previously, Spot reported that the Competition Committee fined 15 tour operators for advertising Umrah without a license.
