The Competition Committee has reported violations in the Navoi region regarding the collection of payments for water supply and sewage services.
The local company Elkimyo-Suvta'minot, operating as a natural monopoly, raised fees for subscribers without prior notice. As a result, it accrued over 200 million soms in unjustified revenue, as noted by the regional supervisory authority.
According to current legislation, entities classified as natural monopolies are required to inform consumers about any increases in prices or tariffs. Announcements must be published in the media and on the company's website at least 15 days before the decision takes effect.
A special commission from the Committee has initiated a case against Elkimyo-Suvta'minot. The company's actions were deemed a violation of the regulation on the formation of state-regulated prices, which was approved in December 2023.
As a result of the investigation, a decision was made to impose a financial penalty on the company. Additionally, it was required to recalculate the excess charges imposed on consumers, amounting to over 200 million soms.
