On February 17, another meeting of the Kengash of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis took place. It was chaired by the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbaeva. During the meeting, a resolution was adopted to convene the fourth plenary session of the Senate on February 20, 2025.
It is planned that during the plenary session, which will be conducted using a video conferencing system, a number of issues will be discussed.
It was noted that senators intend to review laws concerning the approval of the Concept of Ensuring Citizens' Freedom of Conscience and State Policy in the Field of Religion, financial support for business entities, further improvement of credit information exchange, tax administration, land use, construction processes, donor movements, as well as support for families and women.
For instance, the Law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Connection with the Improvement of the Financial Support System for Business Entities" aims to expand the access of business entities to financial services and introduce effective financing tools for businesses, including the establishment of a modern legislative framework for financing through the assignment of monetary claims (factoring).
Similarly, the law regulating credit information exchange helps protect the population from fraud in the crediting sphere and prevents cases of loans being issued in the name of citizens without their knowledge and the unauthorized online withdrawal of credit funds.
The law regarding land use aims to create a solid legal foundation for the protection of lands used to meet the cultural and household needs of the population and recreational areas, preserve their territories, enhance the accountability of officials, ensure the interconnection of land and urban planning legislation during the use of land parcels, and improve the effectiveness of monitoring the targeted use of these lands.
The agenda of the plenary session also includes laws related to the judicial system, the rights of convicts during their sentences, as well as the sphere of waste collection and disposal services.
Additionally, the fourth plenary session will consider laws related to the ratification and accession to several international documents. Furthermore, the issue of changing the borders of the city of Samarkand, as well as the Samarkand and Akdaryin districts of the Samarkand region, will also be discussed.
