On Saturday, January 11, the Tashkent Metro received three new train sets, each consisting of four carriages. This was reported by the press service of the capital's underground.
After arriving at the depot, the new trains undergo technical testing for 9–10 days, in accordance with established guidelines, and are then released onto the lines to serve passengers.
“In January-February 2025, it is planned to introduce another 6 metro trains. As a result of these scheduled works, we aim to renew the rolling stock of the metro and further reduce fixed intervals,” said the Tashkent Metro.
On December 31, 2024, the capital's underground also received three new sets, totaling 12 carriages. In the same month, the metro served 1 million passengers in a single day for the first time. Throughout the past year, the metro received 17 new trains (a total of 68 carriages).
In September, plans were announced to supply 48 new carriages to the Tashkent Metro by the end of the previous year. In 2025, the metro depot is set to be replenished with another 56 modern carriages.
As a result, this should allow for a reduction in train intervals on key lines — Chilanzar, Uzbekistan, Yunusabad, and the Circular above-ground line — to 2–3 minutes instead of the current 4–9 minutes.
Earlier, Spot reported that payment for travel by palm has been implemented at 12 metro stations in Tashkent.
