As previously reported by Spot, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim held bilateral talks.
The leaders of the two countries participated in a business forum attended by over 200 representatives from companies such as Petronas, Five Petroleum, Gemilang Coachwork, Proton, Sunview, Mimos, Westports, Gamuda, Malaysia Export-Import Bank, and others.
The President highlighted the agreement reached with Malaysia regarding a two-year period of innovative development. Both parties plan to increase trade turnover, develop a preferential trade agreement, and organize exhibitions and fairs.
One of the priority areas for cooperation will be the electronics and semiconductor sector, Mirziyoyev noted. He emphasized the opportunities for implementing projects in artificial intelligence and digital technologies, as well as the establishment of data centers.
In the chemical industry, strategic projects are being developed for the production of polymers, "green" hydrogen, and ammonia. The potential for developing the medical sector, producing innovative medicines in Uzbekistan, and creating modern clinics was highlighted.
The president also mentioned the growing demand for eco-friendly building materials, inviting Malaysian investors to establish their production. The Uzbek side expressed interest in implementing projects in the fields of smart agriculture, and the supply of organic and halal products.
Mirziyoyev invited Malaysian companies and banks to participate in the privatization of state assets in the telecommunications, energy, financial, and other sectors. The potential for cooperation in education, transport, and tourism was also noted.
At the forum, the creation of a special economic zone in the Tashkent region under the management of a Malaysian company was announced. The head of state proposed to hold the next Uzbekistan-Malaysia business forum in the fall in Uzbekistan.
