The construction of the Uzbek-Chinese industrial zone "Buyuk Ipak Yuli" has commenced in Almalyk, reports the press service of the Tashkent region's khokimiyat.

The complex is being built in collaboration with Zhejiang Holley Global Industry Development. Kobil Hamdamov, the khokim of the city, held talks in China at the end of December regarding the project's implementation with Wang Lichen, the chairman of the board of directors of the parent company Holley Group.

The head of the capital region's administration, Zoir Mirzaev, visited the construction site a few days ago to review the progress of the work. He provided guidance on the master plan for the industrial zone and its communication infrastructure.

The initial phase of construction will cover an area of 13 hectares in the Khilol neighborhood. Plans include the creation of a two-story exhibition hall, a three-story office building, a logistics center, and workshops for producing small refrigerators and transformers.

In the future, the "Buyuk Ipak Yuli" technopark is expected to expand to 227 hectares, housing around 100 enterprises. These will include manufacturing facilities for electrical engineering, textiles, building materials, and pharmaceuticals.

The launch of all projects within the technopark will create over 12,000 new jobs. The total annual export is projected to reach $120 million, while import-substituting products worth $80 million will be supplied to the domestic market.

Last May, plans were announced by Holley Group to establish a technopark in the Tashkent region specializing in electrical engineering. Prior to that, the company announced plans to create transformer and semiconductor production facilities in the Angren SEZ.

Earlier, Spot reported that in 2024, China surpassed Russia in the number of enterprises established in Uzbekistan.
