An investigation is underway regarding the developer Insoft Invest, responsible for the construction of the residential complex Askiya City in the Yakkasaray district of Tashkent. This was reported by the Ministry of Construction and Housing Utilities.
On February 17, a 51-year-old man fell from a staircase of an unfinished building into the basement, resulting in a fatal outcome. The investigative department of the Tashkent Internal Affairs Directorate has initiated a criminal case concerning the incident, as noted in the report.
All construction and installation work at the site has been suspended, emphasized the Ministry of Construction. Additionally, the press service of the agency pointed out that violations had previously been identified during the construction of Askiya City.
In May 2020, the Inspection for Construction and Housing Utilities Control in Tashkent discovered that construction work was being conducted without prior notification to state authorities. The supervisory body sent a directive to the developer to rectify the violations.
After the requirements were not met, the inspection ordered a halt to the works, and a lawsuit was filed against Insoft Invest's director, Maksud Kurbanov, in the Yakkasaray District Administrative Court. He was held accountable under part 7 of article 99 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
In October of the same year, the company was again ordered to stop construction, and a new lawsuit was filed against the official. However, by February 2021, the construction had not been suspended or registered by the inspection.
A follow-up inspection in April 2024 found that work continued at the site. The inspection summoned the responsible parties, but they did not appear and failed to provide the required documents. A report was drawn up with the involvement of a preventive inspector, and a statement was submitted to law enforcement agencies demanding a legal assessment.
Earlier, Spot reported that a multi-story business center was proposed to be built on Glinka Street in Tashkent.
