On January 12, ahead of the 33rd anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Defender of the Fatherland Day, the Men G’olib Run took place at Yangi O’zbekiston Park. This event brought together representatives of the country’s armed forces, law enforcement officials, military academy cadets, and amateur runners.
The Men G’olib Run is the only sporting event in Uzbekistan where representatives of the main law enforcement agencies and military structures compete in running to determine the best of the best. Additionally, the Men G’olib Run is an open event for amateur runners aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle, fostering running culture in the country, and enhancing the prestige of the military among the public.
This run is held as part of the Uzbekistan Championship in road running among the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies, where participants compete in both individual and team categories. The second stage of the competition will take place in May, in anticipation of a significant and important date - Memorial and Honor Day.
This year, the Men G’olib Run is being organized for the first time by the Central Asian Academy of Walking and Running, with the Uzbekistan Athletics Federation acting as a co-organizer and AO "Uzbekneftgaz" as the general partner. Among the state agencies involved are the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Olympic Committee, the Agency for Youth Affairs, and the Hokimiyat of Tashkent city.
Approximately 1,500 runners started from Yangi O’zbekiston Park, competing in distances of 3 km and 10 km. More than 800 applications were received for the 10 km distance, indicating the growing popularity of running in recent years. Preparing for long distances requires time, effort, and attention to physical and harmonious development, serving as a stepping stone towards instilling healthy habits among the young and active generation.
In the patriotic run, seven teams from law enforcement agencies and six teams from military educational institutions competed for the Men G’olib trophy in the team category. Among them were teams from the Ministry of Defense, the National Security Service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the State Security Service, the National Guard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the State Customs Committee. The teams from educational institutions included cadets from the Academy of Armed Forces, the University of Public Security, the Ministry of Internal Affairs Academy, the Ministry of Emergency Situations Academy, the State Security Service Academy, and the Institute of the State Customs Committee.
The leadership of the law enforcement and military agencies of the Republic of Uzbekistan attended to support their teams: Deputy Minister of Defense Major General Hamdam Karsiev, First Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations Colonel Sanjar Zupakov, and Deputy Commander of the National Guard of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sarvar Mamayusupov. The opening ceremony also featured Adham Ikramov, the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Oybek Kasimov, the General Secretary of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan.
- It is a great honor to stand alongside the true patriots of Uzbekistan, who guard the peace and well-being of our country day and night, - noted Adham Ikramov at the event's opening. - The Men G’olib Run is one opportunity to express gratitude for the honorable service of all personnel from law enforcement and military agencies, their families, and the young cadets and graduates of military universities who have chosen the challenging path of serving the homeland.
Families of military personnel and representatives of law enforcement agencies, including children from both older and younger generations, joined the Men G’olib Run for the 3 km distance to celebrate the patriotic holiday.
The total prize fund for the Men G’olib Run exceeded 76 million sums. Participants were awarded in categories including: absolute championship among men and women for 3 km and 10 km, team championship among male and female cadets, and team championship among law enforcement agencies for men and women.
