The Senate honored the winners of the Republican stage of the national contest "Gender Equality Activist."

On January 16 of this year, a ceremony was held in the Senate to award the winners of the republican stage of the national contest "Woman of the Year" and "Gender Equality Activist".

The ceremony was opened with a congratulatory speech by the Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbaeva.

The national contest "Gender Equality Activist" is held annually at the initiative of the Republican Commission for Enhancing the Role of Women in Society, Gender Equality, and Family.

The main objective of organizing this contest is to establish policies in each organization aimed at ensuring gender equality, identifying and promoting best practices in this area, as well as protecting the rights and interests of women.

It was noted that under the leadership of the President, large-scale reforms have been implemented in recent years to protect the rights and interests of women and to enhance their activity in all spheres of public administration and social life.

The issues of fully ensuring their rights and freedoms have been reflected in the Constitution in its new edition, as well as in key documents such as the "Uzbekistan – 2030" Strategy and the Strategy for Achieving Gender Equality.

The systematic measures being taken in this direction are also receiving broad recognition from the international community.

For instance, Uzbekistan has entered the top five fastest-growing countries in the world in terms of gender equality according to the World Bank Index.

The country ranks among the top 20 countries in the Open Gender Data Index.

In the Gender Equality and Governance Index, the country rose from 103rd place to 51st position, securing the 52nd place overall.

A total of 934 organizations and institutions submitted documents to participate in the national contest "Gender Equality Activist". They were evaluated by the competition commission according to the requirements of the Regulations, and winners were determined in 10 nominations.

The National Media Association of Uzbekistan, as well as the NGO Intellectual Club "Zakovat" – "Most Active NGO in Ensuring Gender Equality",

LLC "Akbarjon Barakat" – "Most Active Business Entity in Ensuring Gender Equality",

the "Legal Clinic" program of the National Legal Information Center "Adolat" – "Best Television Program Promoting Gender Equality",

the spiritual and educational portal "Oyina.uz" – "Best Website or Online Portal" for Promoting Gender Equality,

the newspaper "Yangi Syrdarё" – "Best Publication for Promoting Gender Equality".

The winners of the contest were awarded commemorative gifts and diplomas.
