Uzbekistan has established a commemorative anniversary medal to honor the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II.

The document notes that the commemorative anniversary medal "80th Anniversary of Victory in the Second World War" is established "to pay special attention and deep respect to our great fathers and grandfathers, who heroically fought for the defense of the Motherland, and to honor the citizens of Uzbekistan - veterans of the war and the labor front from 1941-1945, who made an invaluable contribution to the victory, in connection with the observance of May 9, 2025, as the Day of Remembrance and Honors, as well as the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Second World War."

This commemorative anniversary medal will be awarded to citizens of Uzbekistan who participated in the Second World War and those equated with them, who have been awarded the medals "For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" and "For Victory over Japan," along with other orders and medals received for combat merits during the war years, or who hold certificates as war participants or veterans of the Patriotic War, as well as veterans of the labor front during the Second World War, including those who have medals "For Valorous Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945," "For Labor Valor," "For Labor Distinction," or certificates of employment in the Armed Forces during the 1941-1945 war period.

The document also approves the regulations for the commemorative anniversary medal "80th Anniversary of Victory in the Second World War" and its description.

The Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Service, in conjunction with the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, and the off-budget Pension Fund under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, have been instructed to compile and submit a specific list of veterans and war invalids, as well as participants of the labor front from 1941-1945, who are eligible to receive the commemorative anniversary medal, within two weeks to the Cabinet of Ministers.

It is noted that the medals and their corresponding certificates will be produced at the expense of the Reserve Fund of the Cabinet.

It is worth recalling that earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree "On the preparation and proper celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Second World War and the Day of Remembrance and Honors." The events will be held under the slogan "The heroism for the prosperity, peace, and defense of the Motherland will not be forgotten." Additionally, in accordance with the decree of the head of state "On encouraging participants of the Second World War," one-time payments to veterans will be made.
