Uzbekistan aims to save 1.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 3.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity by 2025.

В Узбекистане в 2025 году ожидается экономия 1,6 млрд кубометров газа и 3,5 млрд кВтч электроэнергии.

It was noted that forecasts indicate that by 2035, electricity consumption is expected to increase by 1.7 times compared to the current level. To fully meet this demand, not only an increase in production is necessary, but also energy conservation.

Furthermore, analysis shows that in Uzbekistan, the energy expenditure for creating 1 dollar of gross domestic product is 2.5 times higher than the global average. Electricity losses in networks reach 14 percent, while natural gas losses exceed 7 percent.

In this regard, with the involvement of scientists, a scientifically grounded study of energy-saving opportunities at local levels is being conducted. In seven regions, reserves have been identified that can save 4.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity and 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

During the presentation, proposals developed based on these studies were discussed.

For instance, replacing outdated pumps in the water management system with modern ones will allow for an annual savings of 1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity. Upgrading boiler houses and utilizing "green" energy in social institutions will save 5 million cubic meters of gas and 15 million kilowatt-hours of electricity as early as this year.

Overall, by 2025, it is planned to save 1.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 3.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity. To achieve this goal, scientifically substantiated recommendations will be provided to each enterprise and organization.

In particular, for large industrial enterprises, energy consumption standards per unit of production will be established, which will reduce energy costs by 5-10 percent. A targeted program for the installation of energy-saving equipment in social sector facilities will be approved.

Measures for thermal insulation of apartment buildings are planned to be expanded. Preferential loans will be offered for the installation of solar collectors and solar panels. Additionally, a training program for consumers on the basics of energy conservation based on Japanese experience will be implemented.

The president emphasized the importance of energy conservation across all sectors of the economy, social sphere, and housing sector. Specific instructions were given to reduce energy losses in regions and industries, as well as to prevent theft and improper use of energy resources.
