The checkpoint "Gishtkuprik" (Chernyaevka), located on the border of Uzbekistan with Kazakhstan, will close for repairs starting February 5, lasting for four months. This was announced by the press service of the Customs Committee.
The movement restriction is being implemented to complete extensive construction and reconstruction work. Specifically, the checkpoint will undergo temporary demolition of buildings, landscaping of the area, and the establishment of infrastructure in the adjacent territory.
"The movement of citizens and vehicles crossing the 'Gishtkuprik' border post will be redirected to the customs border post 'Navoi' starting February 5, 2025," the statement said.
On January 27, the Customs Committee reported the opening of the customs point "Navoi" (checkpoint "Zangiota") in Tashkent region on a trial basis. For the convenience of citizens and passenger vehicles, the movement of trucks will be temporarily restricted at the "Navoi" customs post.
In March 2024, it was reported that repair works were being carried out at the customs posts "Zhibek Zholy - Gishtkuprik" and "Kaplanbek - Navoi" on the Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan border, which were planned to be completed by summer. As a result, the capacity of the checkpoint was expected to triple.
Earlier, Spot reported that an electronic queue is planned to be implemented at the border starting June 1.
