In 2024, the average price of pilaf in Uzbekistan increased by 15.6% and approached the mark of 29,000 sums per serving, according to the Statistics Agency.
Regionally, the leader is the Andijan region, where the price of a serving of pilaf rose by nearly 29% compared to last year — from 24,200 to 31,200 sums.
Also making the top three for growth are the Fergana region (+23.7%) and Tashkent (+20.2%). In the capital, pilaf will cost more than in any other region — 35,000 sums per serving.
Growth rates were slightly lower in the Khorezm (+19.8%) and Bukhara (+19.5%) regions. In the Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, and Navoi regions, the price increase for pilaf was recorded at the average level across the republic.
In other regions, the rates of pilaf price increases lagged behind the average in Uzbekistan. The lowest growth was observed in the Syrdarya region — from 25,200 to 25,700 sums (+2%). The cheapest serving will be in Karakalpakstan — 23,400 sums, which is 9.8% higher than last year.
According to the Statistics Agency, in 2024, the official inflation rate in Uzbekistan was 9.8%. The increase in food prices was only 2.4%, with a significant portion occurring in December.
