Uzbekistan and Russia are set to implement a new mechanism for regulating labor migration, according to a statement from the Migration Agency.

On February 6, representatives of the Uzbek delegation, led by the director of the Migration Agency, Behzod Musaev, met with the head of the Federal Labor and Employment Service of Russia (Rostrud), Mikhail Ivankov.

The parties agreed to carry out joint projects aimed at establishing specialized training centers in Uzbekistan for citizens wishing to work in Russia.

Furthermore, Rostrud intends to closely cooperate with the Migration Agency to study the activities of employers and assess their reliability.

In a statement from the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was noted that Russia supported the proposal to improve the system for organized recruitment and professional training of citizens intending to work in the Russian Federation.

“In this context, Rostrud is working on the establishment of a 'Single Operator' for the organized recruitment of foreign workers, as well as the development of preferential conditions, including covering the cost of the patent by the employer,” the statement said.

This week, the Migration Agency reported that Russian companies plan to employ 7,000 Uzbeks. The mandatory exam in the Russian language for obtaining a work patent may be organized at the branch of the Migration Center 'Sakharov' in Tashkent.

Previously, Spot reported that Latvia has abandoned the introduction of quotas for workers from Uzbekistan.
