On December 31, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, signed a decree establishing a Coordinating Council for the organization of analytical and research structures.
The Coordinating Council will serve as an advisory body responsible for conducting strategic research and coordinating all phases of its activities.
The primary task of the council is to regularly present long-term analytical documents and proposals on key issues of domestic and foreign policy to the president.
The leadership and coordination of the council's work has been entrusted to the president's advisor, Sardor Umurzakov, who has held this position since August 2023.
Among the council members are the first deputy heads of the Central Bank, Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Ecology, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Water Management, Ministry of Digital Technologies, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Justice, the Competition Committee, AUGA, the rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, as well as leaders of analytical institutions.
The council will form working groups to engage in strategic research on the following areas:
- security and social stability;
- state and public construction;
- socio-economic development;
- foreign policy and international cooperation;
- strategic planning and regional development;
- environmental issues, including climate change and water scarcity.
The establishment of the council aims to enhance the effectiveness of analytical work and strategic planning in the social, political, and economic development of the country.
