In January, the Tashkent Metro is set to receive nine new trains (36 cars). This was announced by the head of the metro's traffic service, Rustam Shafikov, in an interview with the O’zbekiston 24 television channel.

On December 31, the press service of the capital's underground reported the arrival of three new trains, each consisting of 12 cars, at the train depot. Currently, the trains are undergoing technical testing, which will last for 9-10 days. Additionally, last month, the metro served 1 million passengers in a single day.

According to Rustam Shafikov, the capital's metro had previously received 14 rolling stock units. Thus, in 2024, a total of 17 new trains, designed to accommodate 68 cars, were delivered to the metro.

“In January 2025, we plan to receive nine trains for the needs of the Tashkent Metro,” he added.

In September, it became known about plans to supply the Tashkent Metro with 48 new cars by the end of the previous year. In 2025, the metro's train depot is expected to be replenished with an additional 56 modern cars.

As a result, this should allow for a reduction in train intervals on key lines — Chilanzar, Uzbekistan, Yunusabad, and the Circular Overground — to 2-3 minutes instead of the current 4-9 minutes.

Earlier, Spot reported that palm payment for travel was launched at 12 metro stations in Tashkent.
