A resolution has been adopted to convene the third plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
Today, January 20, 2025, a meeting of the Kengash of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis took place. The session was chaired by Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbaeva. During the meeting, a resolution was adopted to convene the third plenary session of the Senate on January 23, 2025.
It was noted that the plenary session, which will be conducted using a video conferencing system, is set to discuss a number of laws.
Among them are the laws on “Investments and Investment Activities,” “Food Security,” “Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Connection with the Improvement of Microfinance Activities,” and “Guarantees for the Protection of Deposits in Banks.”
Additionally, the upcoming plenary session will also cover the laws on “Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Connection with the Improvement of the System for Counteracting Economic Crimes” and “Amendments and Additions to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan on State Duty.”
Senators are also planning to discuss several laws aimed at further developing the performing arts, enhancing the preventive system for offenses among minors, strengthening guarantees for the reliable protection of individual rights and freedoms, and improving the regulation of the alcohol and tobacco markets.
Furthermore, the agenda for the plenary session includes laws on “Environmental Expertise, Environmental Impact Assessment, and Strategic Environmental Assessment,” “Amendments and Additions to the Labor Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan,” “Establishment of the Honorary Title of the Republic of Uzbekistan ‘Honored Ecologist of the Republic of Uzbekistan’,” “Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan,” and “Registration of Residence and Stay of Citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Foreign Citizens, and Stateless Persons.”
In addition, the laws on “Ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Tajikistan on Allied Relations (Dushanbe, April 18, 2024),” “Limiting Greenhouse Gas Emissions,” and the approval of resolutions of the Kengash of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis will also be considered.
