From April 5 to 9, 2025, Uzbekistan will host the largest international event - the 150th anniversary assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which brings together 190 countries. This is the first time such an event has been held in our country in the history of Central Asian states.
At the international level, such a significant event is held only in countries with a high level of parliamentary governance and a positive track record of sustainable development.
In this regard, on February 7, a regular meeting of the Organizing Committee for the 150th anniversary assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union took place in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, chaired by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate, Sodik Safaev.
During various sessions of the assembly on the theme "Parliamentary Movement for Social Progress and Justice," delegations led by parliamentary leaders from around the world will discuss pressing issues such as social protection of the population and poverty reduction, ensuring the rule of law, protecting human rights, promoting gender equality, and advancing science, technology, and youth support.
In this context, special attention was given at the meeting to the preparations for this assembly, which will take place in Uzbekistan. There was an exchange of opinions regarding the responsibilities of the relevant organizations in charge of each event conducted within the framework of the assembly and the measures that need to be taken.
