The Law on "Food Security" (No. ZRU-1023 dated 03.02.2025) has been adopted.
This law regulates relationships in the field of food security.
It covers the provision of safe nutrition for the population with food products that have nutritional value, the formation of effective market mechanisms, and the production of food products and raw materials.
The Cabinet of Ministers ensures the implementation of a unified state policy in the area of food security and determines operational measures to ensure food security in case of food shortages in Uzbekistan.
The Ministry of Agriculture is the authorized state body in the field of food security.
The goal of state support in food security is to meet the needs of the country's population for essential types of socially significant food products through the production of local food products and raw materials.
Food consumption standards are reviewed every three years based on demographic, social, and economic indicators of the country.
The law will come into force six months after its official publication, reports the Ministry of Justice.
