The legislative chamber has passed a bill banning the sale of electronic cigarettes in Uzbekistan.
During the session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the draft law on "Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aimed at Further Strengthening Requirements for the Circulation of Specific Types of Tobacco Products, Devices for Consuming Tobacco and Nicotine" was discussed.
This draft law prohibits the circulation (production, manufacturing, storage, transportation or conveyance, import into the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and export from the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan) of electronic nicotine delivery systems, including electronic cigarettes and their liquids.
Additionally, it establishes liability for offenses related to the illegal introduction of smokeless tobacco products and nicotine consumption devices, including electronic cigarettes.
It was noted that during the preparation of the draft law for its second reading, the provisions of the document were refined based on the suggestions of the deputies of the responsible committee.
The adoption of the draft law will further protect the life and health of the population, preserve the gene pool of the nation, and safeguard the environment from new types of tobacco and nicotine products.
The draft law was adopted in the third reading.
