The President of Uzbekistan expressed condolences to the U.S. President following the terrorist attack in New Orleans.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on behalf of the people of Uzbekistan, expressed heartfelt condolences and support to the families and loved ones of the victims, as well as to the entire American populace, and wished a swift recovery to the injured.

On Wednesday, January 1, a vehicle drove into a crowd in the tourist area of New Orleans, Louisiana. After the crash, the driver exited the pickup and began shooting. The police returned fire and shot the assailant.

As a result of the incident, at least 15 people died and more than 30 were injured. The tragedy occurred during the New Year's celebrations on the streets of the city.

The attacker was identified as 42-year-old former U.S. serviceman Shamsuddin Jabbar from Texas.
