At the meeting, the Chairman of the Jokargy Keness of the Republic of Karakalpakstan presented plans for utilizing existing resources, increasing investment volumes, and creating jobs.
The head of state emphasized the structure of the proposed projects. Specifically, out of the planned $3.1 billion in investments for next year, only $500 million will be allocated to regional projects.
In this regard, the necessity to leverage all available opportunities in the districts and increase this share was highlighted. To achieve this, additional regional projects worth $1 billion will be developed, enabling the launch of 120 new enterprises and raising export volumes to $500 million.
Moreover, 85 large enterprises will be brought to full capacity. By organizing new production, trading, and service platforms, employment for 150,000 people will be ensured, resulting in a reduction of the unemployment rate to 5.4 percent. New income sources will be opened for 20,000 low-income families, which will decrease the poverty rate by 7.6 percent.
Currently, a wind power plant with a capacity of 1 GW is under construction in Karakalpakstan. Projects for the construction of similar plants with a total capacity of 9.3 GW have been initiated, which will allow for the generation of 33 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. The region also has significant natural gas reserves. Therefore, the feasibility of establishing large-scale energy-intensive enterprises in the metallurgy, chemical, and construction sectors in Karakalpakstan has been emphasized.
There was also mention of the need to enhance efficiency in agriculture. On irrigated lands, it is planned to create industrial gardens and vineyards covering a total area of 3,000 hectares. The cultivation of sesame on 31,000 hectares and mung beans on 22,000 hectares with an export orientation is planned. Additionally, a project for cultivating licorice on 30,000 hectares will be implemented over the next three years.
It was noted that all these measures reflect only a portion of the opportunities in Karakalpakstan, and their effective implementation will ensure dynamic development in the region.
Therefore, a project office will be established in the republic, focused on the development of three main areas: agriculture, industry, and tourism. This structure will analyze the "growth points" of each district, provide recommendations on the selection of agricultural crops, and enhance the profitability of land use. It will develop and present projects on raw material processing and finished product manufacturing to the district governors, as well as prepare proposals for opening new tourist routes and developing the necessary infrastructure.
Responsible individuals have been instructed to ensure special oversight of the progress of investment projects, the implementation of employment plans, and export activities. They have been tasked with developing a development strategy for each district with the involvement of reputable foreign experts.
