Abdukodir Khusanov has officially joined Manchester City as a player.

Khusanov joined "Lens" in the summer of 2023 from the Belarusian club "Energetik-BGU" and quickly established himself as one of the most promising young defenders in Ligue 1.

At just 20 years old, he has already played 18 matches for the Uzbekistan national team, making a significant contribution to the successful start of the qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

The player himself does not hide his excitement at the opportunity to become the first Uzbek footballer to play in the Premier League. "It is a great honor for me to join Manchester City, a club I have followed for many years," Khusanov shared.

"Playing alongside the best footballers in the world and learning from Pep Guardiola, one of the greatest coaches in history, is a dream. I am proud of this moment, as is my family, and I am ready to take on the challenge."

Manchester City's Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, noted that Khusanov has immense potential: "We are pleased to welcome him to the team. Despite his youth, Abdukodir shows maturity, strength, aggression, and impressive speed. Under Pep Guardiola's guidance, he will only get better. His determination and desire to improve make this deal extremely promising."

On the club's official website, it was emphasized that Khusanov quickly became a key player for "Lens," having played 31 matches in Ligue 1. Tall (over 1.8 meters) and physically strong, he effectively handles duels against the best forwards in France. His game is characterized by smart positioning, precise decision-making, and a high level of technical skill, making him valuable to City's tactics, especially in formations that involve advancing defenders into midfield.

Through his performances for "Lens," Khusanov has earned recognition from coaches and teammates. The team's head coach, Will Still, described him as "a calm, powerful, and fast player with impressive potential." Lens goalkeeper Bryce Samba commented on his play, stating: "He is a real monster. What he does at his age is astonishing."

In October 2024, Khusanov was named Young Player of the Month in Ligue 1, confirming his status as one of the brightest young talents in European football.
